theCourseForum Projects

Here you can find the projects I was a part of as part of my role as VP of Design at theCourseForum, a course review website for and by UVA students.

Design System

As VP of Design, I wanted to start the semester strong with my new cohort of designers. While design had never been the focus of theCourseForum in the past, with my new position, I decided that the site needed a design system that theCourseForum design team would be able to utilize for site maintenance and new features for the years to come. And since my new members had varying levels of experience with UI/UX design and Figma, I felt a design system would be a perfect way for everyone to learn and practice the skills and software without having to make immediate design decisions.

My Process

  • Examined the HTML and CSS source code of each page
of the site to ensure accuracy.

  • Collaborated with designers and developers to recreate assets as they were on the existing site.

  • Created interactive components to reflect the experience and navigation of theCourseForum.

  • Suggested improvements based on aesthetic and usability issues we ran into during the creation of the design system.

  • Published a library of components, styles, and variables
on Figma for the design team to use in the years to come.
